Checklist Before the First Launch
The first launch is easier to spoil with preparation than with settings. Five minutes of checking saves money because the cascade is charged regardless of whether the page is ready to accept it.
Page Checklist
| What to Check | How | Why It's Important |
|---|---|---|
| The page opens and returns a 200 code | Open it in incognito mode | Links to errors are useless |
| No indexing prohibition | Check the meta tag and robots.txt | A closed page is not ranked |
| The canonical address points to itself | Page source code | Otherwise, the weight will go to another page |
| The address is permanent | Not a temporary promotion, not a catalog filter | Links will remain forever |
| The page matches the query | Compare with the search results | Links do not fix discrepancies |
Preparation Checklist
- Anchors. Set several options, not just one phrase — anchors and wishes.
- Search Console. Connect in advance: without it, there will be no Pulse or Radar.
- Balance. Ensure that the amounts are sufficient: the launch does not start partially.
- Expectations. Determine by which query you will judge the result and record the current position.
What Not to Do Before Launch
- Change the address of the promoted page — links will lead to the old one.
- Close the site for redesign on the launch day.
- Launch several cascades on one page at once — see how many cascades to launch.
When Everything is Ready
The step-by-step order of the launch itself is in the article how to launch promotion. If this is your first project, start with a free first link: where it is and how to get it.
Specifically About a New Site
If the site is less than a few months old and there is almost nothing in the index, it is better to postpone the first launch. Links to a site that search has not yet studied do not accelerate the acquaintance enough to pay off: first, pages under demand and their indexing are needed. This is not a refusal of promotion, but a matter of priority.
Three Questions to Answer Before Payment
- By which query do you measure success? One or two specific ones, not "for all".
- What is the current position? Record the number and date.
- What will you do if there is no shift in two months? It is better to have an answer to this question in advance than to look for it in irritation.
